Yuyuan Gardens & French Concession

Even though a while ago I said to myself I will not post "travelling photos" on the blog anymore, the wonderful places we've seen the last days changed my mind. So I thought of combining the travelling part with the fashion part and therefore I have a new type of post for you today which will show you many photos of the beautiful gardens we've seen on Friday and some photos from a very special district in Shanghai, which is the French Concession.

To tell you a few words about these places, Yuyuan (Yu) Gardens is one of the top touristic destinations when it comes to Shanghai and we've already been here twice, but only last Friday we got to visit the actual gardens. Being situated in the heart of Shanghai's old city, this place is surrounded by a market where you can find beautiful and authentic souvenirs (for which you can of course bargain:-D), silk scarves, jewellery, etc, but also all sorts of Chinese food. The Yu Garden was built in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty and it was the largest and most prestigious garden of its era in Shanghai.
Before actually getting to enter the gardens we had to cross a bridge (you can see it below), a bridge that was so full of tourists that you could barely walk and this almost convinced us not to enter the gardens, but I'm glad that we didn't give up because there were in fact a lot fewer people inside and the place was extremely beautiful and peaceful. You can spend hours here and just enjoy the unique Chinese architecture and landscape and we will definitely come back sometime during summer, when everything will be greener and in bloom.

My outfit was a sporty-casual one because it was just one of those days when I just wanted to feel comfy and warm. I wore a pair of ripped jeans and an off white sweater to which I added my oversized taupe coat and bag. The pop of colour was added by the Nikes and my new fluffy accessory for the bag, which I totally love and I think it brightens up any outfit. :)

Beware, there are many photos below :D

After we visited the gardens we decided to also go to another district which is called French Concession and which was a foreign concession in Shanghai. Initially it wasa settlement for the French but it soon attracted residents of various nationalities. This area retains a distinct character due to its european style buildings, streets with restaurants, pubs, bars and even markets and it is a very popular tourist destination in Shanghai. Again, I can't wait for the weather to get warmer to be able to sit on a terrace and enjoy the special vibe this place has. :)

Sporty #mood for the weekend

The holy weekend is almost here (yay!) and I was in the mood for a sporty look. Actually, I wear quite often sporty looks, but the sporty-chic kind of outfits, not the track suit and sneakers kind of outfit. God, I hate those! I had something like that when I was little and I didn't like it then and I hate it even more now. To be honest, I don't own many training clothes except for the ones I wear in the fitness studio, therefore when we went trekking finding something really comfy to wear was a bit problematic. I just don't like sports clothes and that's that. Anyway, this got me sooo far away from what I wanted to tell you today. :))

As I was saying, I don't like sports clothes, but I do like wearing sporty chic outfits and pairing some cool sneakers with skirts, dresses, jeans, coats, etc. I think they look super interesting and amazing and besides that, at the end of the day your feet will thank you so much for wearing something comfy.

But when you choose to wear a lovely, white, asymmetric SHIRT DRESS in a sporty-chic outfit it will definitely be something else. It seems that I quite like shirt dresses lately and you can't blame me since they can be worn in so many ways and I think a white one is essential in your wardrobe. I recently got mine and I instantly liked the material (cotton) and of course, its interesting shape. which caught my eye in the first place. It is great that such a shirt dress allows you to wear it in so many combos: as a dress, with heels or sneakers, as a shirt, with jeans, shorts, skirts underneath and when the weather gets colder you can easily wear a jacket or a coat over it and look so chic. Easy peasy, right?

As you can see I chose to wear mine this time with a grey skirt underneath and my Nike Air Max which bring the perfect pop of color to my outfit. The b&w bag matches both the shirt and the hat perfectly and the sunnies match the sneakers, of course. Et voila, a great summer/fall look with the minimum effort, for a long day in the city. You can find this shirt dress HERE.

Do you like shirt dresses? How do you choose to wear them?

Have a lovely weekend,
A.

Neutrals with a twist

Hello my dears, in order to make up for all the wishlist posts lately, I thought of preparing three posts this week for you. This means that besides the one from Monday and this one, I will also show you some more photos from London on Friday. I mixed the posts a bit and that's because I still have to work on the one for Friday plus that I wanted to show you a new outfit, cause these are the articles you love the most. :)

The story behind this one is that I didn't plan in advance to take photos that day, I just met my friend for coffee and before leaving the house I thought "why not if it's not raining?!" Weell, do I have to tell you that it started pouring the moment we began the shooting?! Yess yes it did and that is just my luck :)) You can actually see the raindrops in the photos and my hair was really wet at the end, even if it all lasted maximum 5 minutes. However, I hope you'll like this sporty chic look for which I paired a grey skirt with a metallic sweater and a biker jacket. I love the pop of color brought by my current obsession, the Nikes.

Have a lovely day,
Andra
