A glimpse of spring

Right now after brunch I'm remembering dearly of our second day spent in Suzhou and I wish to tell you a few words about it along with the ton of photos. :)

To begin with, day 2 in Suzhou was exactly as Yahoo Weather predicted: sunny and with 18/19 degrees Celsius, the perfect spring day I would say. So what more could we have wished for this day which was supposed to be all about visiting the city and seeing new places? :) After having our breakfast at the hotel we decided to go to the Tiger Hill, which is one of the most famous places in Suzhou. We took a taxi to get there, but there are probably some buses which go to this place as well, because when we reached this place (which is in fact outside the city) there was full of people, cars, buses, like OMG. Even if it was quite early, the good weather on a Sunday does that to the tourist attractions here in China. From the entrance it doesn't promises that much, except for the seven-stories leaned pagoda which stands tall on the top of the hill, but once you start wandering this place you discover its beauty. You go from garden to garden, sometimes through a peaceful forest, from site to site and everything is so beautiful and neat. Moreover they have here an impressing Bonsai Collection and Museum, which I'm sure it will be even more beautiful once the warm weather comes along.

We spent there two to three hours, I would say, and after that we decided to go and see the Lingering Gardens, another famous place in Suzhou. Well that was not the best choice as it was already around 1 p.m. and everybody was already awake and eager to visit places, so I can't really explain into words how full of people this garden was. You can however notice a part of the crowd in the photo with the red boat below. :)

We got out as fast as we could and took another taxi to our next milestone, which was the Twin Towers. After being exhausted from all the crowds surrounding us and all the bustle everywhere, this was the best choice we could have made. This place was quite small compared to the other gardens we've seen, but it was, luckily, also almost empty as it is not as famous as the others. We were finally able to sit down in the sun for a bit, rest, enjoy the view and of course take some photos. :)

As I was telling you in my previous post, this outfit didn't go unnoticed either since I was wearing that yellow jacket but I couldn't care less. I hardly waited to wear one of my favourite jackets again and this was the perfect moment to do so (and also the only one for now as the winter is back). The embroidered dress is a new addition to my closet and I think it will be great for spring and summer. Besides the beautiful embroidery I also love the fact that it has bell sleeves and pockets. :) As in for the rest, the day was looking quite busy from the beginning on so I had to keep it all quite casual.

I'll leave you with the photos now..
Love, A.

The holidays for the Chinese New Year are over, but we took advantage of the past free days and we visited some more of this lovely city and not only. In fact, last Saturday at around 11 am we were leaving our apartment in order to go to the railway station because, you guessed it right, we had a train to catch, the one which was going to take us to Suzhou. Well, this city is quite close to Shanghai (in terms of Chinese distances) - about 80km - and we got there in just 30 minutes by taking a high-speed train.

Suzhou is well known for its canals, bridges and classical Chinese gardens and they even call it "the Venice of the East", so you can imagine that it got on my wishlist pretty fast. We were actually very lucky that we booked it for Saturday and Sunday because we also had a lovely weather, with bright sunshine and milder temperatures, fact which enabled us to visit many gardens and enjoy everything properly. On Saturday we managed to see two gardens and the famous city centre with narrow streets,  where you can find everything you wish for - from food, drinks, restaurants to shops with clothes, souvenirs, jewellery, etc., you can indeed see here many canals and bridges where, from time to time gondolas with tourists are passing by. The bustle and excitement is everywhere around you and the city definitely has a special, beautiful vibe.

On another matter, I've been seeing lately this bright candy pink trend in the high-street fashion and needless to say, if it's pink it's my colour. I found this lovely sweater at H&M and, as the sun was shining that day and we were visiting a new city, I thought it would be the perfect occasion to wear it. I always like to wear new stuff when I go somewhere new, don't you? :D Anyway, a pair of blue jeans and a white shirt underneath the sweater were the perfect match to it, but it was not that warm so I also had to add a coat / jacket. I went for this faux fur because it's very easy to style (together with the black boots and bag), keeps me warm and it would make my outfit more interesting. You can imagine that I was the pop of colour everywhere we went (besides the fact that I have blonde hair, I'm tall and european) but who cares :))) You will see next week what I wore on Sunday, nevertheless don't worry I still didn't go unnoticed.:))

Have a lovely weekend, dear ones!
Many hugs, A.
