London baby, day 1

Hey loves, I finally finished retouching the photos from our long weekend spent in London, so I thought of sharing some of them with you, together with a few details regarding what we did and what I wore that day.
We flew there on Thursday evening, so after checking in at the hotel at about 10 p.m. we took a black cab directly to Piccadilly Circus. Piccadilly Circus is definitely the place to go if you are looking for a place to eat and maybe you can even call it the heart of London. It is always full of people, agitation, excitement, life. We wanted to have (a very late) dinner so we picked up a Steak House (these are very common in London and I definitely recommend you to try at least one place as such) and I must tell you that we loved it. The food was amazing, the staff friendly and we had a great time.

On Friday morning, after having a yummy breakfast at the hotel, we chose our most comfy shoes and started the tour. We knew that we only had two full days there and many many things to see, so we tried to do as much as possible every day and we had, in fact, a tour planned for each day. I forgot to mention that we stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel - London Westminster, which besides being amazing and offering a delicious breakfast, was also very central. London is a huge city so if you don't have so much time to spend there and you don't want to spend a lot of time on the subway, having a hotel which is close to most of the attractions is definitely a plus. Moreover, this enabled us to walk most of the time and enjoy the lovely weather and luckily we only took the subway at the end of each day.

So we started our tour with a walk along the Thames, on its right bank, side from which you get a lovely view of the Parliament Building, Victoria Tower and Big Ben. Honestly, this was also the calmest part of London, where there were not soooo many people as in the other places. We then crossed the St Westminster Bridge and walked up to Westminster Abbey, but we didn't spend too much time there since the line at the entrance was very, very long and we continued our journey up to Trafalgar Square and National Gallery. Next milestones on our map were Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus (again) and then through the Green Park (where we rested our feet a little bit and soaked up the sun) we finally reached the Buckingham Palace. From there we went back to Trafalgar Square by walking on The Mall street and through St James's Park. The last thing we wanted to see that day was The British Museum, so from Trafalgar Square we went on foot all the way up to the museum. The last time my feet ached so badly was in Rome, but actually I think this time was even more painful :))
Anyway, the British Museum is definitely worth visiting, the entrance is free, there is so much history and knowledge and so many things to learn but my advice is to go there well rested and to plan several hours for it.

17,8 km and 25000 steps later, we ended our first day with a dinner on the terrace, at another (of course) Steak House, followed by a good night sleep afterwards. Don't worry however, I didn't eat any steak but I chose to try the fish'n'chips. Cause that's what you eat when in London, right? :D

..to be continued.
