The Oversized Denim Jacket // Xi'an

Denim Jacket / Geaca de blugi - HERE / AICI || Blouse / Bluza - Zara || Jeans / Blugi - Stradivarius || Boots / Botine - Zara || Bag / Geanta - Zara

The time has come and the struggle is real: I have too many photos and no more free space :)). Which is why I can only show you a few photos from our 1st day spent last week in Xi'an (more exactly, these ones were taken last Friday). Xi'an is famous for many historical events which took place here along the time and it is the oldest of the Four Ancient Capitals of China, having held the position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history, including Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Sui and Tang. Xi'an is also the starting point of the Silk Road and home of the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin, therefore you can imagine why this city was on our "must-see places" list. :)

As we were pretty tired during the first day there because we only slept about 4 hours the night before in order to catch our early flight, we decided to just walk around and see what was close to us: the Xi'an City Walls, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower and the Muslim Quarter. Our hotel was in the centre of the city so reaching these first attractions was very convenient as we were able to just walk to them. The first one was the city wall, which might be my favourite place in this city, both during the day and during the night. The City Wall is one of the oldest, largest and best preserved Chinese city wall. It was built in the 14th century but has been refurbished many times since and the wall encloses about 14 square km. In order to get on the wall you have to pay a fee, after which you can walk until you can't feel your feet anymore :)) Or you can rent a bike and ride around. The wall is lit up so beautifully at night that I totally recommend you to have a walk and admire it.

In the photos below you will be able to see the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower as well, which are other symbols of the city. Each of these towers had their purpose, namely the bells from the Bell Tower were stricken at dawn, while the drums from the Drum Tower were beaten at sunset to indicate the end of the day. Pretty cool, huh? :) Finally, the Muslim Quarter was one of the most colourful streets I've seen, full of people but moreover, full of FOOD. It is in fact like a market where the Chinese Muslims are inviting you to taste their local goodies. Unfortunately, I couldn't add here photos of this part, but I might show you some more on Instagram. :)

I usually like and try to match my outfits to the places we visit and I compose my looks by thinking that they would fit a certain place. This is exactly what happened with today's outfit: I imagined I would wear it during our walk on the City Wall and I think it fitted the background perfectly. In case you didn't notice by now, I have a new obsession which is putting my hands on all sorts of interesting pairs of jeans: embroidered, with patches, with pearls, with bows, etc. And apparently this obsession is slowly developing to denim jackets as well. The latest addition to my wardrobe is this lovely  oversized JACKET with patches which I find to be so cool and fun to wear! I love its vintage vibe and the fact that it is long and oversized. The quality is very good, as always, and the patches make it truly something! I wore it with a pair of black skinny jeans and a yellow blouse with ruffles and I think this jacket made my outfit look more interesting, a bit more casual but so much more fun, right? :)

Let me know what you think!

Have a lovely weekend!
Love, A.
